Paywall is VERY thick. Progression is impossible

Do yourself a favor, DON’T get this game.

It will give you the illusion of choice and free things to keep you playing and get you invested. After a week however, you will realize that unless you spend money consistently, you just CAN’T progress to a competitive level. In other words, hard work and time investment can only get you so far before you HAVE to pay (a month or so)

This would be okay if the game was beginner friendly, but even the AI matchmaking is unfair in that they won’t match you by rank. In other words, either you get completely destroyed by paying 2 year veterans, or you will be the reason to hold them down, this of course will force you to spend money via peer pressure.

Marvel contest of champions is a better game in that although you have no control over which character to use and progression is really slow, it’s not impossible as it is with this game if you choose not to pay and it’s more beginner friendly.

Don’t waste your time and if you’ve been coaxed to doing so already, cut your losses while you’re ahead
