I have enjoyed Future Fight nearly non-stop since it launched. The game play is fun, the roster of characters is deep, and the mechanics are a blast. And up until we got patch notes for the recent update, it still looked great - I have wanted Nova in the game for ages. But, with the update came a new loot box with random chance to acquire the new characters. RNG to get characters, then more RNG to upgrade them, all spending in game currency that is difficult to collect without spending real money. And to top it off, they gave away just enough of the in game currency so everyone can try these new RNG boxes and get hooked. Thats a terrible action on top of a terrible action. Ugh. I will keep playing for now, but I will not spend any more real money until this issue is resolved.

Tl:dr version. Loot box heroes this is what ea has gotten in trouble for, it needs to stop This game used to be my favorite. I have been playing since launch and have spent my fair share of money on a supposedly free game and up until the most recent update, I was ok with that. The most recent update has stopped that. When you play a marvel game it is usually because you enjoy marvel characters and until this most recent update you were able to acquire with guaranteed success all of the characters that had been released. Some required a lot of work and time if you wished to stay as a free to play player, but it was doable. There are a handful of premium characters but with about 10bucks you could get them all, guaranteed. While the game does have a ton of loot box problems, those were mostly for materials to make you competitive at the highest level, they were not necessary aside from maybe one or two modes. The recent update changed that. Now, in order to get some of the most powerful characters, including at least one character who has been clambered for since early in the games life cycle, you need to buy a fairly expensive loot box which has a chance of dropping these characters. This is why I stopped playing contest of champions and I am highly disappointed in a game I used to love. Please fix this netmarble, until you do, many of us will not be spending anything, 1star

3.6 is awful

Use to love this game until last few updates introduce this gambling system to enhance the pay to win model. Going ftp until I find something else to play and invest in. DC Unchained maybe. Thanks for ruining a fun game.

VIP 9 won’t spend a dime unless they get rid hero’s locked behind RNG loot boxes. Terrible move! Plan your next one carefully.

I’ve played this game for a good while now. I love playing, but I draw the line at a character I was legitimately excited for in Nova, to be locked exclusively behind an RNG loot box. I don’t play Contest of Champions for that explicit reason and am disappointed Netmarble has chosen this direction for the game. My review will stand at one star and I won’t make a single purchase in game until this feature has been removed completely.

I love this game and have played for he past year and a half. But now the developers have implemented the loot box system for gaining new characters. Pretty piss poor judgement by my opinion seeing how bad EA is getting trashed over the same issue.

The game itself is one of the best games on a mobile platform...however with the 3.6 update Netmarble has put out a terrible new mechanic into the game. New Characters are now behind a RNG paywall. Previously not having to gamble for characters was a main feature of why I started playing this game. There was also a simple paywall characters that I actually didn’t mind spending real money on because this was a very straightforward transaction. Now Netmarble has stooped down to other mobile games...gambling. This an unacceptable precedent Netmarble has placed into my beloved game. I’m going to play this game regardless, it just a shame that I’ll never get all the characters and Netmarble won’t be getting any more of my money because of this.

This has a ridiculous amount of annoying pop-up ads, the best characters are firmly locked behind paywalls for the whales, and now they’ve moved towards online gambling with the latest RNG-dependent update. They got greedy and didn’t learn from the public shaming EA got.

There are many things I like about this game. I love that you can earn pretty much any character you want with some grind. I love that the updates are all new and refreshing. However, with this new update, things turn for the worse. One out of the five is paywalled, which I am fine with as long as it doesnt go overboard. The real kicker is that three of the five can ONLY be received through this new "Ultimate" chest. These are officially the first characters that can only be acquired with LUCK. More like "Ultimate" loot box. Only one character is available in the missions, meaning that F2P players only get one character out of five to use (unless they get extremely lucky. I have seen this game go from fully F2W to partially P2W. If this new strategy of releasing characters soon takes hold, we might as well have no updates at all, seeing as we can get the characters anyway. Edit: AS IF THIS WASNT BAD ENOUGH, NETMARBLE HAS THE AUDACITY TO TRY AND BRIBE US INTO BUYING A LOOT CRATE. WHY NOT TRY AND FIX THIS MISTAKE INSTEAD? I for one (as well as many others) will not be purchasing any of these "loot boxes" or any iAPs until this is fixed. I sincerely hope this game doesnt become like Contest of Champions. #boycott

Future Fight has been a fun hobby of mine for a while, and I generally spend around 20$ a month on it, just for little bonuses. Newer updates have now made it more challenging to play sans pay and its ridiculous. I started giving this game money because it felt like something that I didnt need to do, but I could support Netmarble and get cool extra rewards. But I trust them less with every update, and as of now, am not going to purchase my regular packs if its going o be taken for granted and abused.

I’ve played this game since shortly after launch. I have enjoyed it for the entire time and have spent well over 200 US dollars for bios and crystals. All was fair when you could spend a few bucks and know what you were buying. This loot box crap that you just introduced in the latest update is the dumbest thing you could have done. It’s a slap in the face to your paying customers. Can’t you see what this same crap caused for EA? It’s greedy and an obvious cash grab to screw over anyone that isn’t spending a ton of money on your game. Me and my wife will not be spending any more on this game if this is the route you are taking.

First of all, I’ve been playing this game ever since it launched. I’ve been playing faithfully the past two years. That being said, there have been some shady business practices over the years and more recently the CTP and card chests. Before that there was the Epic questline for the X-Men and unlocking Apocalypse for over 6K crystals just to unlock him was quite garbage. On top of that, been a creep in terms of costumes being more expensive and enough people complained about Wolverines costume prompted them to buff the uniform. Then this sham of an update has come out with The Ultimates chest. A small chance of RNG loot boxes of getting Nova, Anti-Man, and Blue Marvel bios. On top of that, bio-sub character Quasar. NM has never had this before in terms of acquiring characters and for them to do this now is shameful. Look at EA with Battlefront 2 and Disney forcing them to drop the loot boxes for now. It’s such a disease to gaming these days with micro transactions and I’m a VIP 9 in this game. Now there are much higher level VIP’s in this game but I’ve spent a fair amount of time and money into this game and for many other players don’t deserve this level of disrespect. Bribing the players with 1750 crystals to get a chance to unlock Nova or any other ultimate are awful. Letting my Stark Stash and bio sub expire and won’t put anymore money into this game until Netmarble changes this.

Random daily missions are odd but the game is awesome.

Latest release (Nov. 28) introduced new characters only available via items that require either $$$ spent or months worth of resource accumulation. The fact that theyre rewarded in random fashion only exacerbates the situation. I pay for subscriptions to support the game as well as a means to catch up and, eventually get ahead of the growth curve. Unfortunately now that commitment isnt enough to keep up. Poor move on Netmarbles part.

I’ve been playing this game for well over a year now and absolutely love it. I’ve spent enough to get me to VIP lvl3 which isn’t a lot compared to some, but it is a good bit of cash for a mobile game IMO. I’m fine with the pay wall characters and the various methods needed to rank up characters, but this new ultimate hero chest is just stupid. Take a lesson from the massive SWBF2 backlash and stop the stupid loot crate nonsense. Giving us a bunch of crystals to try and placate is not what should have been done. It’s a slap in the face. I refuse to spend them on this chest, nor will I spend anymore money on the game.

Was a really good game, now they are starting to wave characters in our face and the only way go get them is through loot boxes. Guess they saw battlefront and said “what a good business model” disappointing :(

This WAS a great game that let you build a team the way you wanted, but for some reason, while some companies are trying to distance themselves from loot boxes, Netmarble has decided to sell them for the first time. I will never spend another cent on this game.

Love marvel, love the game, hate the new update. Having RNG characters promotes gambling to children.
